Pet foods infested with Salmonella have literally caused thousands of tons of pet food to be sent to landfills.
A publication from a recent poultry science conference in Australia revealed an exciting advancement in using a plasmid based on CRISPR technology inserted into a non-infectious vector bacteria that was then given to chickens infected with Salmonella. Results are promising to address Salmonella at a common root source in pet food – poultry.
