Ever wondered if fruit fiber (eg, citrus pulp, apple fiber, etc.) is better than fiber from grains (eg, oats, wheat)? A recent published article studied bran vs. fruit fibers and discovered many health-relevant results. Authors found that bran fibers: 1) improved gut microbiota diversity, 2) increased beneficial gut microbiota, 3) reduced blood triglycerides while fruit fibers: 1) changed microbiota composition and function, 2) tended to improve immune response, and 3) lowered cholesterol levels.
